PHASE 01
Understand
SlapFunk did not begin as a business. It began out of necessity. A group of music lovers in Utrecht wanted a safe place to hear the underground sound they were obsessed with, so they made one themselves. From that grew a label, sub-labels, a party series, the Slapcast, a roster of artists and a genuine family around it. The brief that reached us was a website for a record label: releases and events. But what we heard was bigger. This was never a catalogue, it was a community, and whatever we built would need room to keep growing with it.

PHASE 02
Translate
So we set the direction accordingly: build the home of a scene, not a website for a label. It had to feel like the music, immersive and crafted, unmistakably SlapFunk rather than a store template wearing their logo. And it had to be architected to expand, because we knew this would not stand still. That led to the principle the whole project rests on. Commerce, ticketing and membership bend to the brand, never the other way around. Years of additions later, that call is the reason the site still looks and feels like nothing else.

PHASE 03
Create
This is where it took shape, and it kept taking shape. We designed and built the site in Webflow, full of immersive animation and detail, with the releases playable right on the page so the music is always present. For the shop we connected Shopify through Smootify, so SlapFunk runs on serious e-commerce while every pixel stays under our control. We integrated the Weeztix API to bring events and ticketing natively into the site. Then came SlapFam: a tiered membership giving members premium gated content, discounts in the shop, and the ability to request discounts on events straight through the Weeztix API. For events outside Weeztix we built our own API from scratch, so members get the same treatment no matter who is ticketing the night. And we tied it into their Discord, putting members in the same room as the artists.

PHASE 04
Deliver
We launched it, and then we never really left. What began as a label site is now the full infrastructure of a scene: shop, releases, events, tickets, stories, membership and community, all under one roof and all carrying the SlapFunk attitude. It has grown with the label instead of falling behind it, adding whatever the culture asked for next. Highly crafted on the surface, seriously engineered underneath, and still the same energy that started it in Utrecht.
